Well prepared for vacation

The holiday season is coming. Just relax on vacation, it will be possible again soon. Whether you've chosen a wonderful beach vacation or an active vacation, the necessary things need to be arranged before you leave. We have listed the most important things for you.

Leave your home safe

When you go on vacation, you naturally want your valuables to be well protected. Prevention is better than cure, so make sure thieves have no chance and no other problems can occur. Make sure the doors are properly locked and close all windows tightly when you leave. Also, don't keep valuables in sight. Check that all plugs are unplugged and all devices are turned off. Before departure, also check that your household insurance is in order. Then you can be sure that everything is well organized if a break-in does occur during the holidays.

No social posts

In addition, it is important to make sure that your home looks occupied, because a house that looks like residents are on vacation is more often a target for burglars. Leave the curtains open and arrange timers for a number of lights. When you set it to turn on when it gets dark, it looks like you're just home to burglars. Another important point: do not make it public that you are on vacation. That social media post will come when you get back home.

Appropriate travel insurance

Of course, we go on vacation to enjoy ourselves, but something can always go wrong. It is important that you are well insured so that you are not faced with any surprises. Through your health insurance, you are insured for standard care abroad. However, if you need specialist care, for example after a skiing accident, winter sports cover is necessary with your travel insurance. Even if you are going on a long trip or a round trip, you need additional coverage.

Of course, travel insurance is not only for when you have an accident, you also need appropriate travel insurance if your suitcase is lost, your sunglasses are stolen or if you have to return unexpectedly due to a death. Check that the travel insurance offers the right coverage for the trip you've booked. A Frisia Insurance advisor will be happy to help you with this.

Take out continuous travel insurance

Do you go on vacation more than twice a year or do you regularly go away for the weekend? Then continuous travel insurance may be wiser. You do not run the risk of not taking out insurance for a particular trip and can travel without worries.

Is the car ready to go?

Are you going on vacation by car? Then it is advisable to have the car checked before departure. This way, you can be sure that everything works properly. In addition, arranging roadside assistance is useful, because you don't want to face major problems if the car stops unexpectedly. Always make sure you have the following items in the car for any problems along the way:

  • Flashlight
  • Lifehammer
  • Sunglasses
  • Blanket
  • Eating and drinking

Another tip: make sure you bring the car's spare key.

Informing the home front

Do those staying at home know where you're going? This is always important. Tell those staying at home where you are going and staying. Write down any important insurance (policy) numbers so that the home front can help you with problems. Are you traveling by train or plane? Then provide the flight or train number, along with the departure and arrival times.

Everything on the road?

Have you arranged everything for your vacation? We just have a small checklist:

  • Valid ID or passport for all travelers;
  • Driving license and vehicle registration certificate;
  • Drug passport;
  • Insurance cards;
  • Booking forms, tickets or travel documents;
  • List of telephone numbers: emergency center number, insurance advisor and health insurance.

We hope you enjoy your vacation and if you still have questions? The Frisia Insurance advisors are there for you.
